Our special dog Bella

It is now almost 12 years since we did our first `farmsit' on the Sunshine Coast and decided to make the move from city unit to country acreage. When we did in December 1995 we also made the decision to buy a dog. We decided that we would really like a Blue Heeler Cattle Dog, ideally a female `bluey' and just at that time Alan's sister had a friend whose Red Cattle Dog or more specifically a Smithfield `stumpy tail' (born with no tail) had just had a litter. The father was a Blue Heeler and the mother only about 7 months old when the pups were born but we saw her and loved the look of her. There were only 2 females in the litter and one was spoken for so we had no choice and took the other one (who luckily had a tail) and named her Bella. Bella, born on October 28 1995, has been perfect from Day 1 and has been everything we hoped for and more. She is now my shadow and will sit beside me where ever I am, inside or outside. Everyone loves Bella on sight and now she is getting older we are spoiling her quite a bit - she deserves it!

Bella's a beauty! You can tell by looking at her that she's sweet and good natured. It's good to have a shadow who adores you!

I love Bella too! She was the first dog Philip took to as a child and it was because of her lovely nature that we decided to get Jess the Border Collie, another sweet natured dog. I like her little pink tongue poking out!
