A Family Farm Visit

We have just had a great weekend with a visit from Louise, Tate and Abbey. We managed to pack a lot in in a short time. Tate and Abbey had a chat to Max the horse.

Abbey was introduced to Mabel the Chook and she and Tate fed the Chooks and collected eggs.

Tate enjoyed picking tomatoes and Limes – but not eating them :) And last night he helped me make a Pizza. We all had a lot of fun.

Lime Harvest

Lime Harvest 002

Yesterday we were able to harvest a huge amount of Limes from our prolific Lime Tree and there are still heaps left. Today in Coles they were selling for 69c each !! Now I have to start thinking about how to use them. This variety is yellow in colour and they resemble Lemons, they are also super juicy.Lime Harvest 001

This is the tree, loaded with more for us to give away.

A Day at the Garden Show

2010 July 001

We had a great day today at the Queensland Garden Expo at Nambour. We left home early and arrived just in time for morning tea – then we set off on a tour around the Expo. We loved looking at all the beautiful plants and flowers, the herbs, the giant kitchen garden and a huge array of interesting stalls. We had a hamburger for lunch at the Lions food stand and we heard a great lecture about weather from our local TV Weather Guru. So much to see, do and learn so no wonder it was packed today and will be again over the weekend. Now we are home  and re energised to work in our kitchen garden again :)

A Sisterly Collaboration

So great to have my sister Patti visiting and luckily yesterday was overcast so we stayed in near the cosy fire and made some Digital Art. Patti started off in Art Rage (her first attempt) and she did really well. She painted the abstract piece which had the Glasshouse Mountains as inspiration. Then I came in with Photoshop Elements and together we added a background, the dried grass in the foreground and the quote. We then printed it onto a fridge magnet at 6x4 for Patti to take home. We loved the result.

A Fishy Holiday

IMG_2598

We have just returned from 2 weeks camping by the side of the beautiful Noosa River. This is Alan with a just caught Golden Trevally which tasted beautiful for Dinner that night. During the 2 weeks we fished a lot and had some great fish meals, we lunched on the deck of the Noosa Surf Club overlooking Laguna Bay and Noosa Beach, I read a lot of books, we had Dinner at the Tewantin Pub and the RSL, we caught up with friends and family and walked by the River. I rode my new folding bike, paddled my kayak and even managed a girls shopping excursion at Noosaville with my SIL Karen who is a kindred spirit. The 2 weeks flew by with perfect Queensland May weather. Now we are back to reality and we are mowing, washing, weeding, cleaning etc. and planning our next holiday :)

Farewell April

Another month gone and I can’t believe its May already. We are still experiencing very warm weather and the days are summery,  too hot to be out in the garden working in the middle of the day. We still have our house on the market but after 4 months with no luck we think we will give it a break for a few weeks and then come back and try again with renewed enthusiasm. We know that the price is fair and the presentation is spot on so we just have to find the right people who will appreciate this place as much as we do. The local wildlife certainly love it :) I caught the Easter bunny and his wife on their way home.
