A Gift from Heaven

IMG_2969

Monday this week was a perfect day – perfect temperature, clear skies, sunshine, absolutely stunningly perfect and the weather man told us on Monday night that it had been `a gift from heaven’ and he was so right. Alan and I decided to head down to Noosa and we had morning tea sitting at a table by the river. We took a thermos and some fruit cake. Star jasmine is blooming everywhere in Noosa as it is at our place (see above), and this beautiful fragrance perfumed the air and made the day even better. Alan then met his brother for a picnic lunch by the water and I headed off to the movies at Noosa Junction to see `Eat, Pray, Love’. I loved the movie as I loved the book and I will be buying the DVD :)  Then I popped into Vinnies and bought a dress and a skirt (the dress is a Trent Resort label as new and cost $2.00). So far so good and it cost me $10.00 total.  On the way home we both decided that we needed a bottle of wine to complete the day and we found one on special for $6.00. So we had a really special day and spent around $30.00 including the movie. Life is good :)

Spring is Here!

About 2 weeks ago 2 tiny finches built a nest in an Ixora shrub in our driveway right by our front door. A fairly busy public place but the mother finch laid 2 small eggs and last week they hatched out. Now Mum and Dad are busy feeding them and we know that Spring is really here :)

A Family Farm Visit

We have just had a great weekend with a visit from Louise, Tate and Abbey. We managed to pack a lot in in a short time. Tate and Abbey had a chat to Max the horse.

Abbey was introduced to Mabel the Chook and she and Tate fed the Chooks and collected eggs.

Tate enjoyed picking tomatoes and Limes – but not eating them :) And last night he helped me make a Pizza. We all had a lot of fun.

Lime Harvest

Lime Harvest 002

Yesterday we were able to harvest a huge amount of Limes from our prolific Lime Tree and there are still heaps left. Today in Coles they were selling for 69c each !! Now I have to start thinking about how to use them. This variety is yellow in colour and they resemble Lemons, they are also super juicy.Lime Harvest 001

This is the tree, loaded with more for us to give away.

A Day at the Garden Show

2010 July 001

We had a great day today at the Queensland Garden Expo at Nambour. We left home early and arrived just in time for morning tea – then we set off on a tour around the Expo. We loved looking at all the beautiful plants and flowers, the herbs, the giant kitchen garden and a huge array of interesting stalls. We had a hamburger for lunch at the Lions food stand and we heard a great lecture about weather from our local TV Weather Guru. So much to see, do and learn so no wonder it was packed today and will be again over the weekend. Now we are home  and re energised to work in our kitchen garden again :)
